Pearl reached back to give Garnet’s hand a squeeze as she slipped back to her sisters, somewhat hesitantly wrapping her arms around them both from behind Yellow Pearl. “We’re together again,” Pearl said, “That’s… a start. The three of us can move forward together. I’ll help you.”

Blue nodded slightly. “A-and soon th-they’ll retrieve u-us… They’re j-just teaching us a-a lesson… To ‘know the e-emptiness of being truly a-a-alone’, My Diamond s-said… We are al-already lear-arning… They’re r-right… W-we’ll be back better…”

Yellow blinked and looked at Pearl from her position sandwiched between the two Gems. She gave a gentle smile, masking the grief.

“It’s been so long since we’ve been together like this. At least… Well, at least we have that.”

Blue’s words almost drove the forced smile from Pearl’s face, and she nuzzled Yellow’s shoulder—silly ruffles and all—to keep from letting on. She didn’t truly believe the Diamonds would change their minds, not without eons of progress on Homeworld, but… Pearl could hope. Someday. First came worrying about the Cluster and keeping its destruction from Yellow Diamond.

“It’s been too long,” Pearl agreed, “It’s not the way I would’ve ever asked for it to happen, but… still, I’m glad to see you two again. Face-to-face this time.”
